Man turns himself in after woman dies from shooting in Citra: police.

A man accused in a shooting that left a woman dead Tuesday afternoon in Marion County turned himself in to a sheriff’s office in Georgia, authorities said.

The identities of both the woman and the man were not immediately released.

Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at a residence off of NE 41st Court in Citra and discovered a deceased woman.

Detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide, the sheriff’s office says.

“They believe this was an isolated incident – that the victim and the suspect knew each other, and there’s no current threat to the community,” Marion County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Zach Moore said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office or Crime Stoppers of Marion County.
