JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The man who is accused of shooting and killing a 32-year-old Jacksonville woman at a Fairfax gas station was arrested Tuesday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Isaiah Hawkins, 33, was found during a traffic stop and taken to the Police Memorial Building for an interview. After an interview with detectives, Hawkins was arrested and charged with murder.
Demeshia Gainer was shot multiple times outside of a black four-door sedan that was in the parking lot of a Daily’s gas station on Roosevelt Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Detectives said they found surveillance footage that showed the woman arriving at the gas station in a car with a man.
According to police, the man, who was wearing all-black clothing, ran away after the shooting and headed south on Roosevelt Boulevard.
Hawkins is being held on $1-million bond and had a first appearance scheduled for Wednesday.
