The suspect in the murder of an 18-year-old in February was arrested on Wednesday, Broward detectives say.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) said dispatch received reports of a shooting outside an apartment complex on N Pacific Breeze Circle, shortly before 9 p.m. When deputies and Broward Fire Rescue arrived at the scene they found an 18-year-old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
First responders began life-saving measures before paramedics rushed him to Broward Health Medical Center where he died.
The victim was identified as Decarlo Horton. He turned 18 just a week before he was killed.
Following an extensive investigation, BSO said 23-year-old Jamariel Johnson was identified as the gunman. Detectives were able to determine that the shooting resulted from an OfferUp exchange for the sale of a watch.
Johnson was booked into the Broward Main Jail for first-degree murder with a firearm on Wednesday, BSO said.
