A 40-year-old man was arrested Monday on multiple charges after a woman contacted the Miami-Dade Sherriff’s Office to report that he had been stalking her and assaulted her.
According to an arrest report, the victim contacted deputies Saturday and said that while sleeping in her bed in the 15000 block of Palmetto Club Drive, she was awakened by a loud noise and simultaneously being punched in the face by Reinaldo Peraza.
She said she saw P’s body was halfway through her bedroom window as he yelled profanities at her and stole her two cellphones.
According to the report, the victim claimed that P, who lives in Miami Gardens, had been stalking her for a week and a half, and “it has progressively gotten worse.”
Authorities said she had two prior police reports filed against him, including in the City of Miami, in which she accused him of stalking her.
According to the report, the victim had more than 20 back-to-back messages and phone calls from P and she claimed that he even slept on her roof in order to “watch what she was doing.”
Deputies said she contacted them again on Sunday to report that P had entered her yard and knocked on her son’s window, wanting to give him money.
He then fled the scene once the victim got home, the report stated.
According to the report, P was later located by deputies at a coin laundry and he was transported to an MDSO station for questioning.
Authorities said he became “uncooperative and combative” towards detectives in the interview room and was ultimately forced to the floor and handcuffed.
He was arrested on charges of burglary with assault or battery, grand theft, resisting an officer without violence and stalking.
The relationship between P and the victim was not disclosed in the arrest report.
As of Tuesday, P was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
