A man is accused of threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend’s entire family after he allegedly pulled a knife on her and her current boyfriend.
The Delray Beach Police Department (DBPD) said Jeff Rosen approached his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend while they were seated in a small restaurant park area near 150 E Atlantic Avenue on September 4, 2024.
According to the arrest affidavit, R, 51, began yelling obscenities and pulled a knife from his waistband, “swiping” at the couple. Both victims attempted to defend themselves by using their forearms and feet to push R away.
According to the ex-girlfriend, during the confrontation, R threatened, “If you call the cops on me, I’m gonna kill your entire family.” Despite the threat, passersby alerted police, prompting R to flee the scene.
The ex-girlfriend provided a sworn statement detailing the events, noting that she had dated R for approximately two months and had been broken up since July. Her current boyfriend corroborated her account and added that R punched him several times and broke the knife blade off his shoe during the altercation. He confirmed R’s threat, according to the arrest affidavit.
A witness provided a sworn statement to police. He told officers he saw R strike the boyfriend approximately 15 times but did not see Rosen use or hold a knife.
On September 13, 2024, the boyfriend identified Rosen from a photographic lineup, confirming R as the suspect.
Based on the investigation, probable cause exists to arrest JR on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Thursday.
