Orlando police announced Saturday that a man had been arrested in connection to a home invasion on Friday which left a woman badly hurt.
Officers responded around 1:46 p.m. Friday to a home in the 2300 block of Caribbean Court, where the victim’s husband had found his wife severely battered at their home, according to a news release shared by the Orlando Police Department.
The husband told police that an unknown man forcibly entered their home and brutally attacked his elderly wife, the release states. The woman was taken to the hospital where she remains in critical condition at the time of this report, police said.
Detectives identified the suspect as R D. D, 55, who was found sleeping inside of a shed on a residential property just a few miles away from the victim’s home, according to the release. D had been released from prison in June 2024 after serving a 15-year concurrent sentence for burglary of a dwelling with assault and battery, as well as robbery, police said.
D now faces charges of home invasion robbery with a weapon, aggravated battery on a person over 65 with great bodily harm and aggravated battery with a weapon, the release states.
