Man arrested in murder of woman in Northwest Jacksonville

A man was arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Northwest Jacksonville Thursday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said officers responded to Bulls Bay Highway around 4:30 a.m. in reference to an unresponsive person. When they arrived, police found a dead woman with a head injury.

According to police, the Medical Examiner’s autopsy revealed the woman’s cause of death was a homicide by blunt force trauma.

Police did not identify the woman.

Based on the available evidence, police arrested Jason Paul Mieczkowski, 46. He was charged with murder.
