Man critically injured in shooting during argument at Westside home

A man was shot multiple times Sunday night during an argument at a home on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to police.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said officers were called around 7:45 p.m. to a home on California Avenue about two blocks south of 103rd Street in the Jacksonville Heights neighborhood of the Westside.

They found a man in his mid-40s suffering from several gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a hospital where he was last listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators said they learned the man was in an argument inside the home with another person, who pulled out a gun and shot the man multiple times.

JSO said they believe the incident was isolated to the individuals involved, although it’s unclear how or if the two people know each other.
