Man dead after shooting near church in Boynton Beach

Boynton Beach police are searching for the person who shot and killed a man outside of a church on Friday.

The shooting occurred at about 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of Northeast Second Street and Northeast 12th Avenue.

Police said when officers arrived at the scene they found the shooting victim, who was later pronounced dead by Boynton Beach Fire Rescue.

A WPTV news crew spotted crime scene tape posted outside the New Disciples Worship Center.

Investigators said two men were involved in some sort of altercation before the shooting.

The victim’s family told WPTV News that the man who was killed was Brandon Rahming.

A neighbor said she heard the shooting.

“I was in my room and all I heard was two shots,” she said. “It doesn’t sound like a shot, so I didn’t pay no mind to it because like I said the neighborhood. I didn’t pay no mind to it until a neighbor came knocking on my door so she could park in my driveway and then I realized there was police in the neighborhood.”

The Rahming family sent WPTV News a statement that says in part.

“Today our hearts are shattered as we mourn the senseless and untimely murder of our beloved Brandon L. Rahming. Brandon was more than just a victim; he was a cherished brother, a devoted son, and a loyal friend to many.”

Police said one person of interest has been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
