Man dead after tire explosion at A Expert Tire & Service shop in San Carlos Park

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says a man is dead after a tire explosion at an A Expert Tire & Service shop in San Carlos Park.

Deputies responded to the scene at 8749 Alico Road around 12:50 p.m. on Monday.

Medics told deputies Richard Vallini had severe trauma to his head, according to the report.

LCSO says Vallini was an employee who was inflating a tire when it exploded and struck him.

Deputies spoke with an employee who was a witness to the incident. He said he saw Vallini filling the tire with air before he went inside.

After a short time, the witness rejoined Vallini to assist with the tire. While relieving air pressure, the tire reportedly blew off the rim and struck Vallini in the head.

The tire reportedly hit the witness in the leg before he yelled for help. Another employee then called emergency services as the witness held towels against Vallini’s head.
