A man died in a hospital Sunday morning after he was found injured on a sidewalk in front of the gas station in downtown Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the man, who they believe was in his 50s, was found lying on the sidewalk outside of a Shell gas station on Main Street and Beaver Street.

According to police, the man had visible injuries on his arms and legs. He was transported to a hospital where he died.

Detectives said they have not been able to determine if foul play was involved. The autopsy report is still pending.

At this time it is unknown if the man tried to enter the gas station or where he lived. Authorities are trying to create a timeline of his last movements.

Police said there were two drivers near the area and are hoping to track them down to see if they can help in the investigation.
