Man dies after being shot in face in West Little River

A man has died after authorities said he was shot in the face in West Little River early Thursday.

The victim of the shooting at NW 89th Street and NW 22nd Avenue has not been named.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the area when they received a ShotSpotter alert at 3:51 a.m.

There, they found the man and rushed him to the hospital. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said he had suffered a gunshot to the face. He was pronounced deceased.

A police investigation is underway. No information about the shooter or a motive was immediately available.
