Man dies after being thrown from SUV when it went airborne, flipped in Columbia County: Florida Highway Patrol

A 58-year-old man from White Springs was killed Sunday night when he was ejected from his SUV in a crash in Columbia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the man was headed south on U.S. 41 near NW Kelly Lane just before 10 p.m. when he drove off the road for unknown reasons.

The SUV went airborne over a culvert and flipped when it landed, troopers said.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the SUV and died from his injuries, FHP said.
