A hit-and-run in Winter Haven leaves a person dead, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
Deputies and Polk County Fire Rescue were dispatched around 2:29 a.m. on Monday to Spirit Lake Road in Winter Haven.
According to PCSO, a 63-year-old man died Monday after being hit by a vehicle at 3305 Spirit Lake Road, near Winter Haven.
The victim was walking or standing in the northbound lane on Spirit Lake Road when he was hit.
According to deputies, the crash scene was well-lit, but the victim was wearing all-dark clothing.
At this time Traffic Homicide detectives do not have a description of the vehicle.
