Man dies after pickup truck crashes into telephone pole in Sarasota

A 31-year-old Bradenton man died after the pickup truck he was driving entered the grass shoulder near Lockwood Ridge Road and hit a telephone pole.

The crash happened at approximately 5:46 p.m. at Lockwood Ridge Road just south of DeSoto Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pick-up truck exited a private driveway of the University Club located at Lockwood Ridge Road and Nature Circle after being involved in a traffic crash.

The man drove over the grassy median that separates the north and southbound lanes of Lockwood Ridge Road.

The pickup truck then crossed over the southern travel lanes, entered the grassy shoulder and collided with a telephone pole.

FHP troopers said the man was pronounced dead on-scene by Sarasota County EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
