Authorities say the fire did not “appear suspicious in nature.”
A 68-year-old man is dead after deputies say he was in a structure that caught fire Thursday morning in the Largo area.
At around 11:46 a.m., crews arrived at 10675 Seminole Blvd. Unit 41 following reports of a fire, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. At the scene, firefighters with the Seminole Fire Department were working to contain the fire.
Authorities say firefighters pulled out Clayton Wilson from the structure. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
The sheriff’s office says the fire did not “appear suspicious in nature.” The Robbery/Homicide Unit and Burglary/Pawn Arson Unit were assigned to investigate the incident.
The cause and manner of Wilson’s death will be conducted through an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The investigation of the incident remains ongoing.
