Man dies nearly two weeks after semi crash

A 59-year-old man passed away almost two weeks after being involved in a crash with a semi-truck.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported that the crash took place on August 27 in the 8700 block of US Highway 27 South, south of South Bay.

According to the crash report, the Fidel Leon Pomares was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on US 27, approaching a right-hand curve.

Investigators determined the Miami man failed to stay in his lane while making the turn and ended up driving in the southbound lanes of US 27, directly in the path of a semi-truck.
