Man found dead, woman detained after police called to reports of fight in home: JSO

A man was found dead early Thursday morning in a home on West 12th Street in the city’s Durkeeville neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said officers were called to the house just west of Myrtle Avenue north at 3 a.m. because of reports of “an altercation with injuries.”

Officers found the man dead inside the home and a woman was detained at the scene. Investigators said she was the person who called 911.

Police did not say if the man had injuries or how he might have died.

Because the circumstances of his death and the relationships of those involved are not yet known, the case is pending classification, JSO said

Investigators are working with the Medical Examiner‘s Office and the State Attorney’s Office and ask anyone with information about the incident to to contact JSO at 904-630-0500, email jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org or call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
