A man died overnight after police found him shot just before midnight at the intersection of New Kings Road and Edgewood Avenue, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Police said the circumstances of the shooting are not clear but they were called to reports of the gunfire at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday.
They found the man with at least one gunshot wound, and he was taken to the hospital by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, but he died.
Investigators said the man was shot in the road on Edgewood and then went over to a fast-food restaurant at the intersection, which is where they found him.
Police said they are investigating alongside partners at the Medical Examiner‘s Office and State Attorney’s Office.
