Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers said a man from Brooker is dead following a car crash on I-75 near Ocala.
Lanes were initially blocked off northbound on I-75, near an exit a mile north of US-27 after the crash around 9:30 p.m.
Troopers said the first vehicle, a sedan, was traveling north on I-75 in the right lane.
The pedestrian-victim’s vehicle was parked on the east-paved emergency lane, troopers said.
Troopers said independent witnesses told them several vehicles were swerving to avoid striking the pedestrian, a 44-year-old man from Brooker, who was darting in and out of northbound traffic.
The sedan was unable to avoid hitting the man and Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) paramedics pronounced him deceased on the scene.
No one in the vehicle was injured.
