Man hit by car after stepping into road dies in Palatka: Florida Highway Patrol

A 61-year-old man died Wednesday after he was hit by a car on St. Johns Avenue in Palatka, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to the crash report, a 20-year-old woman was driving east on St. Johns Avenue near Oliver Street around 6 p.m. when the man stepped from the curb into the road, and she struck him.

The man died at the scene.

The woman, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured, troopers said.

The crash is still under investigation.
