Man hospitalized after police officer shoots him at Fort Lauderdale RV park

A man was hospitalized Wednesday night after a Fort Lauderdale Police officer shot him at an RV park.

Police said they responded shortly before 6:30 p.m. to Yacht Haven Park & Marina Resort at 2323 West State Road 84 after the property manager called 911 to report some type of disturbance.

When officers arrived, they encountered a man. At some point, an officer discharged their weapon, striking the man.

Paramedics transported a man with a gunshot wound to Broward Health Medical Center. His identity and condition weren’t released.

The officer wasn’t injured.

Witnesses said there was some type of argument that led up to the shooting, though it’s unclear who was involved or what caused it.

The officer was placed on paid leave, which is standard practice in police shootings. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the incident, which is also standard practice in police shootings.
