Man killed in shooting in Miami-Dade’s Goulds neighborhood

A man has died from his injuries after being shot multiple times early Tuesday morning in Miami-Dade County’s Goulds neighborhood, authorities confirmed.

According to Detective Andre Martin, who is also a spokesman for the police department, officers responded to the area of Southwest 119th Avenue and 224th Street around 2:40 a.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert.

He said officers found a man at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to Jackson South Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Patricia Dean, who went to the scene later in the morning, told reporters that she was asleep when her daughter called her to tell her that a man known to the daughter as Duke had just been shot.

“She told me that Duke got shot. She said, ‘He got shot,’ and she was just screaming and yelling,” Dean said. “I didn’t understand what else she was saying, so when I got up, got dressed for work, I came to see but it was all roped off, so I just went on to work, so I don’t really know what’s going on.”

No other details about the shooting were immediately released.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
