The Lakeland Police Department are investigating a fatal crash on the New Tampa highway.
According to the Lakeland Police Department (LPD), officers responded to a traffic crash on Thursday involving a green semi-truck without a trailer and a blue Toyota Camry.
The Camry was headed eastbound on the highway when it left the eastbound lane and entered the westbound lane, according to LPD.
Entering the westbound lane, the front of the Camry hit the front of the semi, which caused the semi to overturn on its driver’s side, according to officials.
The driver of the Camry, Gary R. Carmean, 40, from Indianapolis, was transported to Lakeland Regional Health where he was pronounced deceased.
The semi-truck driver, 39-year-old Gustavo Estribi, sustained minor injuries.
