Man killed, teen critically injured in separate shootings Sunday night off Normandy Boulevard

Two shootings less than 5 miles apart off Normandy Boulevard left one man dead and a teenager critically injured Sunday night.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the first shooting was reported just before 8 p.m. at Normandy Park on Greek Road, which is one block off Normandy, just west of Fouraker Road.

Officers found a teenager who had been shot, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Investigators said they’ve learned a group of people was hanging out in the area when there was a shootout between multiple people and the teen was hit twice in the stomach.

Police said one person has been detained and investigators are searching for witnesses and surveillance video.

The second shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. when someone spotted a car in a ditch on Normandy Boulevard about a half mile northeast of Chaffee Road South near the entrance to the Normandy Boulevard Sports Complex.

The person called 911 after they checked the car and noticed bullet holes and the driver still inside.

The man died at the scene.

Investigators said information is limited and all they know so far is that the man was in that area of Normandy Boulevard when he was shot and crashed into the ditch.
