A man riding an electric scooter died Sunday evening after colliding with a pickup truck in Key Largo, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed Monday.
They said the crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Bay Drive near Mile Marker 99.
Troopers said the man was riding north on the southbound sidewalk of U.S. 1 when he struck the right side of a black Chevrolet pickup truck that was turning right from Bay Drive onto the highway.
The man was taken to Baptist Health Mariner’s Hospital in Tavernier, where authorities said he died from his injuries.
Troopers did not disclose the man’s age or identity.
