Man riding electric scooter dies after colliding with motorcycle

A man riding an electric scooter died after colliding with a motorcyclist.

FHP says the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Orange Blossom Trail at La Quinta Drive near the Florida mall.

They say a 45-year-old man was riding an electric scooter eastbound and tried to cross OBT when they collided with a 42-year-old man riding a motorcycle.

Troopers say the man riding the scooter was not crossing in a marked crosswalk.

The man riding the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene and the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The southbound lanes of OBT were partially blocked between Sand Lake Rd and SR-528.

All the lanes are back open.
