A man is in the hospital Wednesday after he was shot in the stomach.
Officers received phone calls about the shooting around 3 p.m. Investigators learned that the man was standing by his vehicle on Moncrief Road near the West 45th Street intersection when an unknown man approached him and shot him in the stomach, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
The shooter then ran away from the scene.
Police arrived at the scene and learned that the injured man had driven himself to hospital, JSO said.
Since he was undergoing surgery, investigators could not speak to him to learn more about the incident.
It’s unclear what led to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
