A man was shot and killed in Zephyrhills on Thursday night, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office announced.
Deputies responded to Stillman Street and Calvin Avenue around 10:30 p.m. and found a man lying in the roadway unresponsive.
“It’s scary, you really need to look out for your neighbors,” said AT, a neighbor.
According to PSO, an electric wheelchair was also in the road, and it is believed it belonged to the victim.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released the victim’s identity.
“I don’t know his name, but if it’s the guy we’re thinking of, he always drives the wheelchair from the dirt road down there to the gas station, and he had a motorized scooter that he drove,” T said.
AT lives in the area and said the shooting happened around 45 minutes after she got home Thursday night.
“It’s less than 50 feet from my son’s car, so it’s very unsettling, it really is, because I heard a noise, but the cops were asking me, and I didn’t really hear anything,” she said. “I didn’t put two and two together, because it didn’t sound like a gunshot, but it was roughly around the time it happened. So, I told my husband we need to move.”
T said the entire neighborhood is filled with questions about what happened leading up to the shooting, and who is responsible.
“I talked to the neighbors, and no one heard any arguing, shouting, fighting, nothing. It was literally like they shot him and drove away or walked away, rode away, whatever they did,” T said.
