Atom Egert has been arrested after attempting to grab a child out of an idle car.
The child’s mother had parked the car at a 7/11 gas station, when Egert approached the car and attempted to give the child a high five.
The windows of the vehicle were down for airflow purposes.
Prior to this, the mother watched Egert approach the car and asked him to go away.
Egert grabbed the left arm of the victim and attempted to pull the child out of his car seat. The mother exited her vehicle and with the help of a passerby, they chased Egert off.
Egert ran and was later found behind an Aldi, naked. When speaking to deputies Egert said he was trying to take the child away from his mother “to protect him.”
Egert is now in custody.
