Marianna man dies in crash after sedan goes airborne in Jackson County

A 46-year-old Marianna man is dead after a crash in Jackson County on Saturday, according to FHP.

Troopers say the crash occurred around 11 a.m. when the man was traveling southbound on Old U.S. Road County Road 167 near Oakwood Drive in a sedan.

He then entered into a left-hand curve while traveling southbound and continued straight, according to FHP.

Troopers say he left the roadway to the right, traveling onto the grass shoulder and then onto the property of 3415 Old U.S. Road.

While continuing southbound, his sedan struck the raised driveway for the property, causing it to become airborne, according to FHP.

Troopers say his sedan then landed on the ground, continued southbound onto the property of 3407 Old U.S. Road, and struck a large standing tree.

After impact with the tree, he continued southbound and the front of his sedan then struck a small standing tree causing it to rotate, according to FHP.

Troopers say he was ejected from the sedan and it came to its final rest on the property of 3407 Old U.S. Road facing north.

He was located south of the vehicle and transported to Southeast Medical Center in Dothan Alabama where he was pronounced dead.
