On Saturday, a Marianna woman was transported to the hospital by helicopter after she drove her vehicle off a bridge.
The incident happened just before 6 p.m. on State Road 71 at the Scotts Ferry Bridge near County Road 392.
Florida Highway Patrol officials said the driver of the vehicle was a 48-year-old woman from Marianna, FL.
The woman was traveling northbound on State Road 71 entering the Scotts Ferry Bridge. Due to unknown circumstances, she failed to maintain a single lane, FHP officials wrote.
As a result, it caused the vehicle to cross the center line. She then ran off the roadway, to the left toward the west bridge guardrail, officials said.
The vehicle traveled approximately 50 feet north before falling off the guardrail to the left, according to a news release. Troopers said the vehicle began to overturn while falling approximately 50 feet.
FHP confirmed the woman was the only one involved and is currently being treated for serious injuries.
