Troopers said the bike rider crossed into the opposite lane. The driver of the van tried to avoid the collision by swerving but was unsuccessful. The vehicles collided.
Authorities said five people, including the 62-year-old driver, were in the county van. Two were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, officials said.
The motorcycle rider died at the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies blocked the two-lane roadway so troopers could investigate.
