Miami-Dade woman bloodies 91-year-old for ‘calling her name,’ police say

Miami-Dade police arrested a woman on a first-degree felony charge Thursday after they said she pushed a 91-year-old woman to the floor out of anger in May, sending her to the hospital.

According to police, the incident happened on May 9 at the home of suspect Tamara Sabin Bowen, 73, located in the 6300 block of Southwest 24th Street in the unincorporated Coral Terrace area.

Authorities said Bowen was getting the woman ready to shower in the bathroom and “became upset because the victim kept calling her name and trying to get her attention.”

Bowen, police said, “then pushed the victim, causing her to fall to the floor and hit her head on the shower door rail.”

“The victim began bleeding from her head,” police wrote in an arrest report.

Police said Bowen showered the woman, called an Uber and took her to Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami.

The report, which doesn’t specify whether Bowen and the victim are related, states the victim required “several staples on her head.”

Police said they took Bowen into custody on Thursday where she invoked her right to remain silent.

As of Friday afternoon, she was being held on a $3,500 bond on charges of aggravated abuse of an elderly or disabled adult and battery.
