HIALEAH, Fla. – A 39-year-old man from Miami Gardens was arrested Thursday after he stabbed another man in Hialeah, authorities said.

According to an arrest report from the Hialeah Police Department, the stabbing occurred just before 7:40 a.m. in a parking lot at 774 W. 84th St.

Police said the victim told officers that he was sitting in his car with another person when Eddy Castillo, who is known to him, walked up to his car and tried to stab him in the neck.

Police said the victim put his arm up and suffered a severe cut to his left arm that required 12 sutures.

According to the arrest report, the attack happened after the victim told Castillo to “get a job.”

Police said they found Castillo a short time later at his home in Miami Gardens and he claimed that the victim and witness in the vehicle had been insulting him.

He said he also saw the victim displaying the tip of a blade while inside the car, authorities said. Further statements made by Castillo were redacted from the publicly released report.

Castillo was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder and armed burglary with assault or battery.

As of Friday morning, Castillo remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond had yet to be set.
