A 29-year-old drug dealer was arrested Monday following a shooting last month in the city of Miami, authorities said.
According to an arrest report, Miami police officers responded to a motel, located at 5950 NE Biscayne Blvd., at 2:18 a.m. on Dec. 13 after receiving a ShotSpotter alert of several rounds being fired in the area.
Police said officers arrived at the scene and found a man suffering from several gunshot wounds.
He was transported by Miami Fire Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center where he was treated for his injuries.
According to the report, a witness, who was also identified as the girlfriend of the victim, identified the suspect in a photo lineup and said he was her marijuana dealer, who she had contacted to purchase some marijuana, but she didn’t know his name.
The woman, however, provided the dealer’s phone number to officers and police later identified him as K M Dl, of Miami Gardens.
According to the report, surveillance video shows the victim approaching D as he was sitting in his vehicle.
The two began to engage in a conversation before D shot at the victim multiple times, authorities said.
Police said the victim fell to the ground and D closed his driver’s side door and fled the scene, heading south on Biscayne Boulevard.
According to the arrest report, D was taken into custody Monday and provided detectives with a statement, however that statement was redacted from the publicly released report.
D faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and use of a firearm while committing a felony.
As of Tuesday morning, he remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond had yet to be set.
