A crash took place Monday night in Suwannee County, leaving one man dead and a woman seriously injured.
Just before 9 p.m., the traffic crash, involving an SUV and tractor-trailer, took place on I-75 northbound near mile marker 439. That’s according to Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP says a Mack dump truck struck the overpass of County Road 136 with the lift box elevated and became stuck under the overpass.
The SUV was traveling north on I-75 when FHP says it struck the stuck lift box and caught on fire.
The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital where officials say he was pronounced dead due to his injuries. The passenger of the SUV was also taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to FHP.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured, FHP says.
