Motorcycle rider dies in crash in Union County

A motorcycle crash in Union County leaves one dead.

A motorcycle rider traveling westbound with a passenger on State Road 100 from State Road 121 was declared dead after crashing near Lake Butler, Wednesday afternoon.

Union County deputies said the crash occurred around 3 p.m. and officials from the Florida Highway Patrol said the motorist flipped over on East Main Street and Southeast Sixth Avenue near Lake Butler Hospital.

According to officials, the motorist lost control of the vehicle and struck the median causing the bike to eject both riders.

The passenger was seriously injured and the crash is currently under investigation.
