The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV that critically injured one person on U.S. 41 in Lee County.
According to troopers, the crash was reported at around 1:39 a.m. on Friday. A motorcycle driven by a 31-year-old man from Wakeman, Ohio, was traveling in the center lane north on U.S. 41, approaching the intersection of Big Pine Way.
An SUV driven by a 66-year-old man from Fort Myers was stopped at the red light signal at the intersection ahead of the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist then collided with the rear of the SUV, causing the Ohio man to be ejected from his vehicle. He sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
His condition remains unknown.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
