Motorcyclist dies after crash on Hancock Bridge Parkway in North Fort Myers

A man riding a motorcycle died after a crash on Hancock Bridge Parkway east of Moody Road in North Fort Myers.

The crash happened at approximately noon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was heading east on Hancock Bridge Pkwy on the inside lane while a motorcyclist was on the outside lane.

Troopers said the pickup truck moved to the outside lane while the motorcycle rapidly approached.

The motorcycle operator, a 21-year-old North Fort Myers man, traveled off the roadway, entered a grass shoulder and collided with the metal pedestrian handrail.

The North Fort Myers man was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to FHP, the pickup truck driver continued traveling east.

However, troopers later determined there was no contact between the pickup truck and the motorcycle after they interviewed the pickup truck driver.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
