Motorcyclist injured after crashing into police vehicle in Fort Lauderdale

A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital Monday night after crashing into a police vehicle in Fort Lauderdale, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

A Fort Lauderdale police spokesperson said the crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. near the 700 block of W. Broward Boulevard.

Responding officers determined that the motorcyclist rear-ended the unmarked police vehicle.

The motorcyclist was transported by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Authorities confirmed the involved officer was not injured during the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

It remains unclear if the motorcyclist will be cited or face any charges.
