Motorcyclist killed after hitting street pole in Clearwater

A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a pole overnight, the Clearwater Police Department said.

The crash happened in the 1200 block of Union Street at around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Officials said the motorcyclist lost control of his bike and struck a pole. It is believed that speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The man died at the scene of the crash.

Traffic homicide investigators are continuing to investigate the incident.
