The 39th traffic fatality in Jacksonville this year happened on Monday night when a motorcyclist crashed into an SUV on Kernan Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO said around 8 p.m. a motorcyclist was riding north on Kernan Boulevard as an Acura SUV was traveling south on the same street. The SUV made a left turn on Ashley Melisse Boulevard, and the motorcyclist hit the SUV’s passenger side, according to JSO.
The motorcycle driver died at the scene. The SUV driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigators.
JSO said there were no signs of driver impairment.
This makes the fifth traffic fatality involving a motorcyclist this year.
