Motorcyclist killed, passenger critically injured after striking tree in St. Pete

A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger is critically injured following a collision with a tree in St. Petersburg on Thursday night.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the crash happened in the southbound lanes of the 500 block of Tyrone Boulevard North at around 10:22 p.m.

The driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle, identified as 40-year-old M T F Jr., of Largo, struck a tree on the south side of the intersection after failing to take an eastbound turn, officials said.

F’s passenger, 50-year-old L B, of Mississippi, suffered life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition, according to police.

Both F and B were taken to a nearby hospital, where F died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
