A crash in Riviera Beach claimed the life of a motorcyclist and seriously injured his passenger on Thursday.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) said the crash involved a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2021 Nissan Versa east of Blue Heron Boulevard, west of Phil Foster Park.
The crash report stated that both vehicles were traveling westbound on East Blue Heron Boulevard. The Harley Davidson was exceeding the posted 35 mph speed limit when it collided with the left rear of the Nissan Versa.
L B, a 59-year-old from Boynton Beach, was driving the motorcycle with his passenger, J L-C, a 58-year-old from West Palm Beach. The impact ejected Begnoche and Leach-Cato from the motorcycle, causing them to land in the inside lane.
PBSO said B was pronounced dead at the scene and L-C sustained serious injuries and was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center. The driver of the Nissan Versa and his passenger were unharmed. According to PBSO, both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate to determine the exact cause of the deadly crash.
