Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash after fleeing traffic stop on I-75

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Tuesday after reportedly fleeing from a traffic stop on Interstate 75 northbound and crashing into a pickup truck and trailer in south Fort Myers.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers tried to stop a motorcycle traveling on the shoulder of I-75 northbound near mile marker 118 in Lee County. The motorcyclist fled from troopers, heading north on I-75 at a high rate of speed.

FHP said the motorcyclist rear-ended a pickup truck and trailer near mile marker 127, just before the Alico Road exit. The motorcyclist was seriously injured in the crash.

There were no other injuries in the collision. The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
