A St. Petersburg Police Department arrest report reveals new details about the murder of a St. Pete man.
Jha’qul Maynor, 19, was accused of murdering his mother’s boyfriend, Otis Moore, 54, on Monday.
Maynor lived with his mother and Moore. About 90 minutes after Maynor and Moore got into an argument, Maynor left his bedroom, hit Moore in the head with a weight and stabbed him in the neck with a knife multiple times, according to the arrest report.
Moore’s body would not be discovered until Thursday when a neighbor went to check on him and found a sliding glass door was unlocked. The neighbor reported that they could “smell death” and found Moore “bloated” and deceased on the couch, police said.
The arrest report stated Maynor admitted to killing Moore “a couple days ago.” Maynor was charged with first-degree murder.
He is being held without bond in the Pinellas County Jail.
