New Port Richey police arrest driver who allegedly hit 11-year-old on bike, didn’t stop

ew Port Richey police arrested the alleged driver who struck an 11-year-old girl on her bike on Wednesday and then left the area.

Richard McCafferty, 77, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, police said.

The hit-and-run happened at about 7 a.m. at the intersection of Van Buren Street and Indiana Avenue, which is near Morton Plant North Bay Hospital.

The 11-year-old suffered minor injuries and the bike was minimally damaged.
