One person died during a car crash on Friday night in Pembroke Pines, police said. A witness described the victim as “a lady.”
Police officers used X to ask drivers to “avoid the area” of Dykes Road and 160 Avenue, between Pines Boulevard and Sheridan Street.
According to Officer CR, a spokesman for the Pembroke Pines Police Department, two vehicles collided and speed appeared to be a factor.
“We have not notified the next-of-kin and are still in the very early stages of the investigation,” R wrote.
A car appeared to have split in half and witnesses said there were others injured.
Local 10 News spoke to a woman who said she tried to help the victims after hearing a loud bang.
“When I walked up I see the lady the young lady passed away on the ground,” she said. “I walked over a little bit more the other part of the car is up against the like the wall like almost. And you see somebody else not moving or anything.”
Cellphone video obtained by Local 10 News on Saturday showed the aftermath of the deadly crash.
Police have not released information on the deceased victim’s age or identity as of Saturday morning.
