North Fort Myers woman attacks man with machete, chops part of his thumb off

A man is recovering after a woman attacked him with a machete and severed the tip of his thumb in North Fort Myers.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sheila King on Saturday night and charged her with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stating that King internally harmed the man and caused permanent bodily disfigurement.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office violent crimes unit responded to the stabbing on Suncoast Drive in North Fort Myers at 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Deputies said King got angry at several people living on a property because they weren’t doing chores. They said she walked inside a camper with a machete and started swinging it around, then hit a table and chopped part of a man’s thumb off.

Dalynn Martin owned the property. She said King had been squatting on it for several months and got mad when she was told to leave.

Martin said, “I’ve been asking her to get out since July, and I came to the end of it, and I was like, you got to go now. She went crazy on everybody else, thinking if they left, she didn’t have to leave. The lady came out into the camper outside and started swinging a machete around at everybody and ended up chopping somebody’s thumb off like half of their thumb.”

Deputies found the machete hidden in a bedroom in a house located on the property.
The victim has been discharged from the hospital.

Martin said the victim was a friend of hers.

“He’s doing all right. He’s definitely going to be missing a limb for a while. It’s not as bad as it could have been, but it’s a thumb gone. Could have been a pinky toe,” Martin said.
